On-line Detection of Inter-turn Short Circuit in Turbine Generator Rotor Winding Using a Variable-pitch Equivalent Coil
The rotor winding inter-turn short circuit has a serious negative impact on the turbine generator, and the implementation of online and accurate detection is helpful to arrange maintenance.Based on the high-density distribution characteristics of the cross-core screws in the turbine generator, this study proposes to form an equivalent coil by physical connection of two screws with a certain spacing. The correlation between the characteristic harmonics of the induced voltage of the equivalent coil and the inter-turn short circuit fault of the rotor winding is analyzed, and the influence of the pitch of the equivalent coil on the fault detection effect is further studied. After that, the finite element simulation verification is carried out on the 2-pole and 4-pole turbine generators respectively. It is proved that the equivalent coil can effectively judge the inter-turn short circuit fault of the rotor winding of the turbine generator, which is not affected by the number of magnetic poles and the shape of the magnetic poles of the turbine generator rotor. Finally, the inter-turn short circuit fault of rotor winding is simulated on a four-pole synchronous generator set.The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation analysis. It effectively avoids the disadvantages of the sensor installation difficulty of the invasive detection method, and achieves a good balance between the implementation difficulty and the detection accuracy.
