Retrospective Investigation and Monitoring of Brucellosis in Cattle and Sheep for Breeding Trans-provincially Introduced to Hunan Province from May to June 2023
In order to evaluate and analyze possible entry risk of brucellosis via cattle and sheep for raising trans-provincially introduced to Hunan Province, relevant data from May to June 2023 registered by Hunan Animal Health Supervision Information Platform were monitored and investigated, especially the origin, destination of cattle and sheep as well as brucellosis detection results. The results showed that a total of 270 batches of 12 850 cattle and sheep for raising were introduced, covering 19 provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities directly under the central government,of which,13 provinces were previously classified as Class Ⅰ areas for prevention and control of brucellosis;164 batches were from the zones with vaccination for brucellosis, accounting for 60.74%;96 batches were actually used for further raising, accounting for 35.56%;7 out of 1 396 serum samples from cattle and sheep were detected positive for brucellosis. In conclusion, the entry risk of bovine and sheep brucellosis was available in Hunan Province, animal transportation should be increasingly supervised and controlled to reduce any risk of the disease spreading from the areas at high risk to those at low risk.
