Research Progress in the Structure,Functions and Application of G Protein of Nipah Virus
Nipah virus(NiV)is a highly lethal zoonotic paramyxovirus causing severe respiratory diseases and Nipah viral encephalitis, but no clinically approved vaccines or therapeutic drugs have been available for human infection.Six proteins are encoded by NiV genome, including G protein that participates in virus invasion and other processes, and can stimulate organisms to produce neutralizing antibodies as being a receptor protein and an important immunogenic protein, potentially contributing to researches on NiV pathogenicity and the development of vaccines and detection technologies. In the study, the structure and physiological functions of NiV G protein as well as the research status of vaccines and detection technologies based on G protein were reviewed, and the direction to researches on its application was prospected, with a view to providing an important reference for clarifying the pathogenic mechanism of NiV and for the development of relevant vaccines.
