Research Progress and Control Measures against H3 Subtype Avian Influenza
Avian influenza(AI)is one of the major zoonotic infectious diseases, caused by various subtypes of avian influenza viruses(AIVs),in which H3 subtype is one of the most common low pathogenic avian influenza viruses(LPAIVs)in poultry. In recent years,a variety of new H3 subtype viruses were produced by continuous recombination and evolution of different subtypes of AIVs,with a wider range of hosts including horses, dogs, pigs, seals and other mammals as well as human,in addition to poultry, and its adaptability to mammals was gradually increasing, likely posing a serious threat to poultry industry or human health. The molecular mechanism of trans-host transmission of AIVs was mainly related to the receptor-binding sites of their HA proteins, and transmitted via aerosol. In view of unclear epidemiology and pathogenicity of H3 subtype AI,intensive epidemiological investigation and monitoring could contribute to doing a good job in biosafety management and enhancing biosafety level. In the paper, host adaptation, molecular mechanism of infecting hosts and transmission modes of H3 subtype AI,as well as epidemiology, prevention and control of the disease were discussed, aiming to provide a reference for future prevention and control of the disease in China.
