Sheep Farmers'KAP on Brucellosis Prevention and Control in the 12th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Analysis on Its Factors
In order to evaluate sheep farmers'knowledge,attitudes and practice(KAP)related to brucellosis prevention and control in the 12th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and its factors,a questionnaire investigation was conducted for 230 farmers to collect the information related to their knowledge on inter-human and inter-animal brucellosis infection pathways and clinical symptoms,as well as attitudes towards brucellosis prevention and control and intention to implement key preventive behaviors,from which the factors were statistically described and analyzed using SPSS software.The results showed that the awareness rate was 69.7%for knowledge about brucellosis prevention and control,specifically,71.2%and 67.3%respectively for brucellosis infection pathways and clinical symptoms of sheep flocks,and 64.4%and 68.0%respectively for those of human population;78.5%of sheep farmers were active towards brucellosis prevention and control,and their intention rate of implementation of key preventive behaviors was 73.3%.Non-parametric test analysis showed that farmers'level of KAP was greatly influenced by the corps,ethnic group and feeding methods,indicating a statistical significance in the difference among different groups(P<0.05).In conclusion,farmers'level of KAP in the 12th Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps should be improved,corresponding publicity interventions should be taken to improve sheep farmers'level of knowledge and prevention of brucellosis,and thus to safeguard public health safety and healthy development of livestock industry.
