Challenges and Countermeasures for the Establishment of Brucellosis Free Zone with Vaccination in Minqin County,Gansu Province
Sheep industry has become a pillar for local farmers and herdsmen to increase their income and get rich in Minqin County of Gansu Province where there is a long history of sheep production.In order to eradicate inter-animal brucellosis(referred to as brucellosis)and any public health hazards caused by the disease,Minqin County was selected as a pilot for construction of brucellosis free zone in September 2023.Here,the geographical and control advantages in the construction of brucellosis free zone were analyzed,such problems as scattered infected spots,inconsistent control strategies,insufficient capacity in disease control,difficulties in quarantine supervision,poor awareness of practitioners and outdated technical facilities were pointed out,then some countermeasures were put forward,including developing a sound control system,adopting strict movement control measures,formulating formal vaccination monitoring plans,etc.,aiming to support the construction of the brucellosis free zone in the county.
