Drug Resistance of Bovine Staphylococcus aureus and Research Progress on Its Control Strategies in China
Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)is one of the common causes of cow mastitis, which could be effectively prevented and treated only by antibiotics. It,however,is resistant to a variety of antibiotics due to prolonged use of antibiotics, and makes animals become the reservoir of drug-resistant genes, posing a threat to food safety and human health. It is found that, based on domestic relevant researches on bovine S.aureus, the drug resistance rate of bovine S.aureus has been increasing in China with worsening multi-drug resistance, especially in the northern high-latitude regions;rich molecular epidemiological characteristics are found, dominated by ST9,ST97 and ST398 types that are widely distributed,MRSA SCCmec Ⅻ,SCCmec Ⅲ and SCCmec Ⅳ tend to spread diffusively;antibiotic substitutions with a better prospect including Chinese medicinal preparation, phage, probiotics and antimicrobial peptide are under development to solve the drug resistance of S.aureus.Here,the drug resistance of bovine S.aureus and the research progress of its prevention and control technologies in China were reviewed, supporting future prevention and control of such drug resistance.
