Pathogen Surveillance and Evaluation of Immune Effect for Avian Newcastle Disease in Yuxi City of Yunnan Province from 2018 to 2023
In order to identify the immune effect and prevalence of Newcastle disease(ND)in Yuxi City,Yunnan Province,a total of 37 940 poultry serum samples and 22 737 swab samples were collected from 2018 to 2023,immune antibodies and nucleic acids of Newcastle disease virus(NDV)were detected using HA-HI test and fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR,respectively.The results showed that the average qualification rate of immune antibodies was 86.42%across the city from 2018 to 2023,and 95.26%,69.31%and 89.68%in intensive farms,free-range households and live poultry markets, respectively, the qualification rate ranged from 64.96%to 99.43%in 9 counties(cities/districts);the positive rate of NDV nucleic acids was 0.49%,specifically,0.61%,0.32%and 0 in intensive farms, live poultry farms and designated poultry slaughterhouses, respectively, and the positive rate ranged from 0.29%to 0.87%in the 9 counties(cities/districts);the differences of qualification rate of immune antibodies and positive rate of pathogens were of statistical significance(P<0.05)in different years, types of premises and regions. In conclusion, the immune effect of ND was good in Yuxi in general, with low prevalence rate, although it was relatively poor in free-range households and some counties/districts,with a probability of sporadic outbreak. It was recommended to continue to follow up the dynamics of NDV immune antibodies, regularly carry out etiological surveillance for ND,and timely implement the supplement vaccination and preventive measures to prevent any potential occurrence of outbreak.
