Investigation on the Major Viral Pathogens in Piglets Dead of Diarrhea in Henan Province
In order to identify the major viral pathogens leading to diarrhea in piglets in Henan Province and their distribution characteristics,a total of 496 samples of intestinal tracts and their contents were collected from piglets dead of diarrhea in biosafety disposal plants in the Eastern,Southern,Western,Northern and Central Henan Province in 2022 to detect transmissible gastroenteritis virus(TGEV),porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV),porcine rotavirus(PoRV),porcine delta coronavirus(PDCoV)and swine acute diarrhea syndrome coronavirus(SADS-CoV)using triple fluorescence RT-PCR,and the infection in different seasons and regions as well as mixed infection of different viruses was analyzed. The results showed that the positive detection rates of PoRV and PDCoV(7.66%and 8.27%)were relatively high, and no SADS-CoV was detected;the statistical results based on different seasons showed that TGEV was detected only in springs,PEDV and PoRV were in springs and winters, and PDCoV was in all seasons throughout the year;the test results based on different regions showed that TGEV was detected only in the eastern Henan,PEDV was mainly in the northern Henan,PoRV and PDCoV were mainly in the western Henan(16.67%and 26.67%,respectively);and the statistical results based on viral mixed infection showed that mixed infection with 2 viruses were predominant, especially PEDV+PDCoV,with a detection rate of 1.81%.In conclusion, local piglets were suffered from viral diarrhea mainly in winters and springs in Henan Province, caused by the major viral pathogens including PEDV,PoRV and PDCoV,and mixed infection was available with certain regional characteristics.Local farms and veterinary authorities were supported by the data obtained in the study to develop prevention and control strategies for porcine viral diarrhea.
