A.I.Novikov initiated a study of Russian text semantics in 1980s.Taking a psycholinguistic approach,he treated text as a verbal-mental unit,text semantics-a sort of thought as the result of text comprehension.Therefore,he advocated a study of text semantics based on the analysis of text comprehension,in which the initiative role of the text recipient was considered.As a result,two components of text semantic structure-content and sense were distinguished from the aspects of structure and formation mechanism.Furthermore,denotatum graph was proposed as an instrument of representation of the structure of text content in order to formalize it.Meanwhile,the nature of sense and the relationship between text type and sense were explored.
