In the new century,V.Pustovaya is undoubtedly the leading representative of the new generation of Russian Neo-Realist critics.Unlike previous generations such as S.Shargunov and P.Senchin,who saw Neo-Realism as a sharp opposition to postmodernism and believed that the former would inevitably replace the latter,Pustovaya argues that Neo-Realism is not simply a matter of applying traditional Realist techniques to new environments and realities,but an all-round innovation in aesthetic concepts.In her view,Neo-Realism mainly transforms reality through the creative individual's consciousness that grasps the absolute principles of the world order,regarding human will and personal energy as real factors and freeing individuals from slavery to typical environments.Typical characters begin to possess personality.
