Analysis of related factors affecting the outcome of children treated with tear duct probing
Objective To analyze the related factors affecting the therapeutic effect of tear duct probing in children with obstruction of naso-lacrimal duct. Methods The clinical data of 168 1-8-year-old children with obstruction of naso-lacrimal duct who were treated with tear duct probing in Women and Children's Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen Universit from February 2022 to August 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, then they were divided into effective group(146 cases)and ineffective group(22 cases)according to the therapeutic effect. The general data, disease data, and perioperative data of the two groups were compared.Multivariate logisitic regression model was used to ana-lyze the related factors affecting the therapeutic effect of children treated with tear duct probing. Results Multivariate logisitic regression model showed that aged or more than 3 years old, primary school educational level, without purulent secretion, without history of dacryocysti-tis,and without postoperative infection were the protective factors of therapeutic effect of tear duct probing in children(OR=0.635,0.380,0.578,0.303,0.680,all P<0.05),the duration of disease more than 24 months and complex classification of obstruction of naso-lacrimal duct were the risk factors of therapeutic effect of tear duct probing in children(OR=2.764,5.025,both P<0.05).Conclusion The main factors affecting the therapeutic effect of tear duct probing in children with obstruction of naso-lacrimal duct include age, educational level, purulent secretion, history of dacryocystitis, postoperative infection, course of disease, and classification of obstruction of naso-lacri-mal duct.
