Relationship between ApoE Genotype and Blood Lipid Levels in Renal Transplant Patients
Objective To analyze the relationship between ApoE gene polymorphism and blood lipid levels in renal transplant patients. Methods Eighty patients undergoing renal transplantation in Beijing Friendship Hospital with ApoE genotype detection were enrolled in this study, the serum cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were analyzed. The patients included in the study were divided into E2(including E2/E2 and E2/E3 genotypes),E3(including E3/E3 and E2/E4 genotypes)and E4(including E3/E4 and E4/E4 genotypes)groups according to ApoE genotype. The serum lipid levels of each group were compared to investigate the relationship between ApoE polymorphism and blood lipid. Results Among 80 patients, there were 11 cases of E2/E3 genotype,59 cases of E3/E3 genotype,1 case of E2/E4 genotype,8 cases of E3/E4 genotype and 1 case of E4/E4 genotype. The frequencies of alleles were:e2 7.50%,e3 85.63%and e4 6.87%.LDL-C levels in E2,E3 and E4 groups were comparable(all P>0.05).The serum TC and TG levels in patients of E4 group were significantly higher than those in E3 group(all P<0.05).The serum HDL-C levels in patients of E4 and E2 group were significantly lower than those in E3 group(all P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of TG and HDL-C in renal transplantation recipients are associated with ApoE polymorphism, while the levels of TC and LDL-C are not associated with ApoE polymorphism. Our data indicated that the detection of ApoE genotype in recipients of kidney transplantation may be benefit for the individualized controlling of hyperlipidemia.
