Current Status Investigation of the Willingness,Attitude,and Difficulties in Conducting Research During the Internship Period of Nursing Undergraduates
Objective:To investigate and analyze the willingness,attitude,and difficulties ofnursing undergraduates in conducting research during the internship period and analyze the reasons.Methods:Convenience sampling was used to select nursing undergraduates with internship experience in Shanghai above Secondary hospitals from November 2020 to March 2021 as research subjects.A general information questionnaire and a survey on the willingness,attitude,and difficulties of nursing undergraduates in conducting research during the internship period were conducted.Results:Among 160 students,78.12%(125)of nursing undergraduates were willing to conduct research during the internship period,while 21.87%(35)were not interested in or had no intention of conducting research during the internship period.Nursing undergraduates hope to participate in research projects during their undergraduate studies.The attitude toward research during the internship period,the highest-scoring item was"conducting research during the internship period is to graduate,"with a score of(4.00±1.13).The top three subjective difficulties encountered by nursing undergraduates in participating or conducting research were lack of knowledge in research learning(85.62%),difficulty in writing papers(76.25%),and difficulty in project design(56.87%).The top three objective difficulties were lack of time and energy(80%),lack of guidance and assistance(73.12%),and insufficient reward mechanisms(68.75%).Conclusion:During the internship period,nursing undergraduates have a positive attitude towards research,as they are willing to conduct research during this period.However,they encounter many difficulties during the research process.Educational institutions can provide targeted training based on the characteristics of nursing undergraduates during the internship period and offer appropriate guidance to help them overcome difficulties and successfully complete research work.This can contribute to enhancing the research literacy of nursing undergraduates and promoting research management in nursing undergraduates.
