Joint Application of Obstetrics and Gynecology Outpatient Surgery Model and Mini-CEX Formative Assessment in Undergraduate Teaching
Objective:To explore the application effect of the combined teaching method of obstetrics and gynecology outpatient surgery model and Mini-CEX formative assessment in undergraduate practical teaching in obstetrics and gynecology. Methods:A total of 210 undergraduate interns were included as research subjects and divided into an experimental group(n=105)and a control group(n=105).Both groups underwent Mini-CEX formative assessment and theoretical and clinical skill assessments at the end of the course. The experimental group also participated in outpatient surgery model scenario rehearsals. The performance scores,Mini-CEX formative assessment scores,students'self-satisfaction,and teaching satisfaction of the preceptors were compared between the two groups. Results:The experimental group outperformed the control group in six indicators(doctor-patient communication skills, physical examination skills, clinical judgment ability, humanistic care, organizational ability and efficiency, and overall performance)of Mini-CEX,theoretical and skill assessments(P<0.05).Moreover,the self-satisfaction of interns in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,the preceptors'satisfaction with the independent learning ability, standardized skill operations, and clinical thinking ability of theinterns in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combined teaching method of obstetrics and gynecology outpatient surgery model and Mini-CEX formative assessment can improve the effectiveness of specialty training and teaching quality for undergraduate interns.
