A Comparative Study of the Teaching Effectiveness of Mind Maps and Traditional PPT Methods in Orthopedic Interns
Objective:To compare the teaching effectiveness of mind maps and traditional PPT methods in orthopedic interns. Methods:The clinical medical students from the 2016 class in our hospital were randomly divided into the experimental group(25 students)and the control group(26 students). The experimental group received mind maps teaching, while the control group received traditional PPT teaching. The instructors, content, and hours of instruction were the same for both groups. After the completion of the internship, the students underwent theoretical and practical exams, and each student was given a clinical thinking ability assessment form. Results:The experimental group's scores in theoretical and practical exams were(91.92±5.47)and(89.56±4.18)points,respectively,significantly higher than the control group's scores of(85.69±6.55)and(84.38±4.47)points(P<0.05).The clinical thinking ability scores of the experimental group were(91.84±3.69),significantly higher than the control group's score of(76.46±3.68)(P<0.05).Conclusion:The teaching effectiveness of mind maps is superior to traditional PPT methods in orthopedic intern education, particularly in enhancing clinical thinking abilities.
