Exploration and Research on Endoscopy Teaching during the Digestive System Internship
Objective:To explore the feasibility and practical evaluation of conducting endoscopy teaching among medical interns in the digestive system. Methods:The study included 102 students who interned in the Department of Gastroenterology at Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from 2019 to 2020.A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess the necessity and appropriate duration of ondoscopy teaching.Among them,51 students were in the control group, receiving teaching in the"model+video"mode, while the other 51 students formed the experimental group, receiving teaching in the"model+video+operation observation"mode. After the internship, the teaching effectiveness,end-of-rotation exam scores, and teaching feedback of the two groups were compared. Results:During the internship, students showed high interest in endoscopy teaching. After the internship, students believed that it was more necessary to include endoscopy observation courses(P<0.01),and the"recommended hours"increased from(1.69±0.82)hours before the internship to(2.28±1.27)hours(P<0.01).The experimental group showed advantages in"understanding endoscopic operations"(P<0.01)and"stimulating interest in operations"(P<0.05),and achieved higher end-of-rotation exam scores than the control group(P<0.05).Both groups were highly satisfied with the teaching. Conclusion:Introducing endoscopy teaching during the internship period helps medical students master digestive diseases and improves the teaching effectiveness during the digestive system internship.
