Exploration of the Application of Extended Internship in Clinical Practice Teaching of Nephrology
Purpose:To explore the effectiveness of extended internship in the clinical practice teaching of nephrology. Methods:Clinical medical undergraduates from Xian Medical College who interned in our department were selected as the research subjects. The control group of 87 students from the 2016 level adopted the CBL combined with PBL teaching method, while the experimental group of 61 students from the 2017 level underwent extended internship on the basis of the control group. After the internship course, the teaching effect was evaluated through in-class tests and questionnaire surveys. Results:The average score of the experimental group in the in-class test was(82.74±7.69)points,while that of the control group was(77.70±6.61)points,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001);the overall satisfaction rate of the internship course for the experimental group was 100%,while that of the control group was only 47.13%.The overall satisfaction rate and highly satisfied rate of the internship course for the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05);the questionnaire survey showed that in terms of stimulating learning interest, promoting initiative, cultivating innovative thinking, fostering clinical diagnostic and therapeutic thinking, guiding learning methods, enhancing doctor-patient communication skills, and teamwork, the scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Extended internship conforms to the direction of future medical education development and is a new model worth exploring.
