Effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning(PBL)Teaching Mode in Medical Education——A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of PBL in medical education.Methods:We searched English electronic databases,including PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane.Studies comparing the effects of PBL and traditional lecture-based learning on students'theoretical knowledge,skills,and case analysis scores in medical education were included.Results:A total of 10 RCTs with a combined sample size of 1673 medical students were included.The PBL teaching mode significantly improved students'skill scores but did not improve their theoretical knowledge and case analysis scores.Conclusion:PBL is more effective than traditional teaching methods in improving skills in medical education.
