The Influence of Ideological and Political Education on Professional Qualities of Nursing Students Under the Background of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Purpose:To integrate ideological and political elements into nursing education and evaluate its impact on the professional qualities of nursing students during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods:The 2018 undergraduate nursing class that received ideological and political education combined with professional courses was designated as the experimental group,while the 2017 undergraduate nursing class that received traditional professional course education served as the control group.A comparison was made between the two groups on factors such as attention to the COVID-19 pandemic,mastery of virus protection knowledge,willingness to engage in epidemic prevention,and satisfaction with the nursing profession.Results:Nursing students who received ideological and political education showed significantly higher levels of mastery of COVID-19 virus protection knowledge,willingness to engage in epidemic prevention,and satisfaction with the nursing profession compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Integrating ideological and political elements into nursing education greatly assists in improving the professional qualities and occupational identity of nursing students.
