Application of the Combined Model of Teaching Evaluation by Nursing Interns and Self-Evaluation by Clinical Teaching Faculty in Clinical Teaching Evaluation
Objective:To explore ways to improve the quality of clinical internships by comparing the differences between clinical teaching evaluations by nursing interns and self-evaluations by clinical teaching faculty. Methods:Using the Chinese version of the Clinical Teaching Evaluation Questionnaire(which includes four dimensions:modeling, mentoring, expression and exploration, and learning environment, with a total of 24 items),a survey was conducted among 284 nursing interns from a certain university and 374 teaching faculty members at their respective internship hospitals.Results:(1)The older the teaching faculty, the longer their teaching tenure, the higher their professional title, the possession of a teaching qualification certificate, and having relevant clinical training experience, the higher their self-evaluation scores.(2)In the comparison between student evaluations and teacher self-evaluations,students scored lower in the dimensions of mentoring and expression and exploration, while teachers'self-evaluations scored higher in the dimensions of learning environment and modeling.Conclusion:(1)It is recommended to engage more senior and experienced clinical teaching faculty in clinical teaching work.(2)Systematic clinical teaching guidance and improving interns'abilities in self-expression and exploration should be the next focus areas for clinical teaching faculty to enhance internship quality.
