Evaluation of Job Competence Among Undergraduate Students Majoring in Preventive Medicine at a Medical College in Western China nearing Graduation
Objective:To understand the current status of job competence among undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine at a medical college in western China nearing graduation.Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted on the job competence of 78 undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine nearing graduation at a medical college in western China.Results:The total score of job competence among undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine at this college was(192.9±29.0)points,with scores of(57.1±11.3)points for professional competence,(59.3±10.0)points for occupational value,(39.6±6.9)points for social humanities,and(37.0±6.1)points for trait efficacy.Converting the average scores of job competence into a percentage scale,the scores were as follows:total job competence score of 70.1 points,with scores of 60.1 points for professional competence,79.0 points for occupational value,72.0 points for social humanities,and 73.9 points for trait efficacy.Male students had higher total job competence and professional competence scoresthan female students(P<0.05).Conclusion:The overall level of job competence among undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine at this college is generally average,with particular weaknesses in professional competence,requiring urgent improvement and enhancement.
