Application of WeChat-Assisted Flipped Classroom Teaching Model in Periodontology Undergraduate Education
Objective:To explore the practical effect of the WeChat-assisted flipped classroom teaching model in periodontology theoretical education.Methods:The WeChat-assisted flipped classroom teaching model was adopted in the periodontal pathology theoretical education of 57 undergraduate students at China Medical University(experimental group);traditional classroom teaching methods were used in the periodontitis theoretical education(control group).Pre-class teaching materials were distributed through WeChat public platform and WeChat groups in the experimental group.Case analyses were conducted in class,followed by quiz tests and questionnaire surveys after class.The control group received conventional lecture-based teaching.Results:The total score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P=0.001).The survey results indicated that students'satisfaction with the teaching mode in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(Likert scale:P=0.001;VAS scale:P=0.008).Conclusion:The WeChat-assisted flipped classroom teaching model helps improve periodontology theoretical education scores and enhances students'self-learning and clinical practice abilities.
