Survey and Analysis of Current Situation of Autonomous Learning Ability among Senior Undergraduate Medical Students
Objective:Through a survey,this study aims to assess the current status of autonomous learning abilities among senior undergraduate medical students undertaking obstetrics and gynecology internships and rotations at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.It analyzes differences in autonomous learning abilities based on gender and educational system,and explores educational measures.Methods:A questionnaire based on the Medical Students'Autonomous Learning Ability Measurement Scale was administered to 118 senior undergraduate medical students from September 2023 to February 2024 during their obstetrics and gynecology internships and rotations at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.Results:(1)There were no statistically significant differences in scores for self-motivation beliefs(self-motivation,learning beliefs)and objective behaviors(setting learning goals and plans,self-monitoring and adjustment abilities,information acquisition and processing abilities,communication and collaboration abilities)between male and female students in terms of autonomous learning abilities.(2)There were no statistically significant differences in scores for learning beliefs in self-motivation beliefs and objective behaviors(setting learning goals and plans,self-monitoring and adjustment abilities,information acquisition and processing abilities,communication and collaboration abilities)between students in the five-year and eight-year educational systems;however,students in the five-year system scored higher in self-motivation beliefs than those in the eight-year system.Conclusion:There is little difference in autonomous learning abilities among senior undergraduate medical students based on gender and educational system.During clinical teaching,it is important to use multiple teaching methods and reform assessment methods to stimulate students'learning enthusiasm and cultivate their autonomous learning abilities.
