Survey on the Awareness and Career Planning of Medical Undergraduates in General Practice
Objective:This study aimed to investigate clinical medicine undergraduates'understanding and career planning regarding general practice,intending to enhance their awareness of the field and provide guidance for career development.Methods:An electronic survey was conducted on 51 undergraduates from the West China School of Clinical Medicine,and data were analyzed descriptively.Results:A total of 50 valid questionnaires out of 51 respondents.43(86%)had a partial understanding,and 4(8%)had a thorough understanding.41(82%)students would pursue a specialized master's degree,9(18%)medical students intended to work or receive resident-training directly after graduation.Income,interest,and doctor-patient relationships ranked as the top factors affecting career choice.Conclusion:Medical undergraduates have limited awareness of general practice.Enhanced education in theory and practice is recommended to broaden their knowledge.
