Molecular epidemiology of an outbreak of dengue virus serotype 1 in Xishuangbanna prefecture,Yunnan province,China,2018
Objective To understand the serotype, genotype and molecular epidemiologic features of an outbreak of dengue virus(DENV)in Xishuangbanna prefecture of Yunnan province,China,2018.Methods The serum samples from acute stage of dengue fever(DF)cases were collected to detect viral nucleic acid by RT-PCR assay.E gene sequence of DENV was sequenced and phylogenetic analysis. Results A total of 681 DF confirmed cases were reported in Xishuangbanna prefecture in 2018,with an incidence rate of 54.33/100 000.Of them,612 were indigenous cases,69 were imported cases(59 were from abroad, included 53 cases from Myanmar,2 cases from Laos,3 cases from Cambodia and 1 case from Thailand.10 cases were from domestic). The nucleotide sequences of E genes of 21 virus strains were obtained from DF cases. The homology and phylogenetic analysis indicated that the 21 strains belonged to Subclade-1(S-1)and S-2 of genotype Ⅰ(G-I)of DENV serotype 1(DENV-1).These 21 DENV-1 strains from Xishuangbanna had a closer genetic relationship and highly homology with the DENV-1 strains isolated from Jinghong,Mengla,Ruili,Gengma counties of the Sino-Myanmar and Sino-Laos borders inYunnan province,China and southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar in recent years. Conclusion Re-emergence of DENV-1 G-I was confirmed in Xishuangbanna prefecture in 2018.The DF imported case from Myanmar and Laos were the main source for the autochthonous transmission of DF in Xishuangbanna. It is should strengthen control the cross-border spread of DF in this region.
