Survey on the knowledge,attitudes and practices of monkeypox prevention and control among outbound personnel in Jilin Province and its influencing factors
Objective To investigate the knowledge,attitudes and practices regarding monkeypox prevention and control among outbound travelers in Jilin Province,China,and to analyze the influencing factors,in order to provide theoretical basis for better international travel health consultation.Methods Based on the knowledge,attitudes and practices theory,relevant domestic and international literatures and guidelines were reviewed,6 experts in related fields were invited to formulate the questionnaire.From December 2022 to March 2023,a questionnaire survey was conducted at Jilin International Travel Healthcare Center to assess the knowledge,attitudes and practices regarding monkeypox prevention and control among outbound travelers.Results The scores for knowledge,attitudes and practices regarding monkeypox prevention and control among 604 outbound travelers were(3.83±1.74),(2.98±1.40),and(1.74±0.89),respectively.The awareness rate of knowledge,positive attitude rate,positive behavior rate were 38.34%,74.50%and 58.06%,respectively.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the education level,destination country risk level,history of foreign residency were factors influencing the knowledge dimension of monkeypox prevention and control(P<0.05).Gender,education level,destination country risk level were factors influencing the attitude dimension(P<0.05).while gender,education level,destination country risk level,history of foreign residency were factors influencing the practice dimension(P<0.05).Conclusion Outbound travelers generally had a positive attitude toward monkeypox prevention and control,but their knowledge and practices need to be improved.Therefore,in future work,more attention should be paid to health education on monkeypox prevention and control for outbound travelers,helping to establish correct prevention and control awareness,cultivate good behavior habits,reduce the infection and incidence rate of monkeypox among outbound travelers,thereby reducing the imported risk at ports.
