Reform and practice of blended learning base on"problem-oriented with PAD class"approach in sanitary microbiology
Sanitary microbiology is a fundamental course in the field of health inspection and quarantine. This course adopted PAD class teaching method, with a problem-oriented approach, core knowledge as the focus, and case studies as the guiding strategy for optimized teaching design.Teaching management and formative assessments are conducted through the mosoteach class, utilizing a blended learning approach that combines online and offline activities.Through assessments and surveys, the assessment results and the achievement of educational objectives of the course was evaluated in relation to the results of the 40 students from the 2021 class of the health inspection and quarantine major at Capital Medical University. The results indicated that all 40 students passed the final assessment, with an excellent rate of 45.0%.By incorporating the innovative classroom teaching methods,97.5%of students reported that their confidence in course learning had significantly improved,72.5%of students felt that their intrinsic motivation for learning had been effectively unleashed, and 90.0%of students believed that the integration of case studies had significantly enhanced their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problem-solving.Furthermore,it cultivated a sense of professional identity(97.5%)among students. The blended learning model of"problem-oriented teaching+PAD classroom"effectively realized the educational objectives of the course and was worth further application in future teaching endeavors.
