Tracing analysis of food-borne disease caused by Staphylococcus aureus
Objective To provide data support for epidemiological investigation and disposal and provide a basis for clinical treatment by tracing the food poisoning caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Methods September 18,2022,a local CDC received a report that 11 people in the same group appeared symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain after had dinner at a restaurant. The CDC immediately carried out epidemiological investigation and laboratory testing for this suspected food poisoning incident.Staphylococcus aureus was isolated and cultured from the personnel and environmental samples collected at the scene,MALDI-TOF MS was used for rapid identification,PCR was used for enterotoxin genotyping. Results In this suspected food poisoning incident,a total of 18 anal swab/stool samples,4 food samples and 41 environmental samples were collected,7 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from patient and environmental samples, and all of them produced SEA and SEB enterotoxins, except for the environmental samples that did not produce enterotoxins after sterilization. The drug resistance rates of isolates to penicillin and daptomycin were 86%(6/7)and 100%(7/7),respectively.PFGE showed that the homology of the 5 isolates was 96%.Conclusion It was showed that this suspicious food poisoning event was caused by environmental contamination of Staphylococcus aureus, which led to the occurrence of food-borne diseases. The relevant departments should strengthen the ability of food risk supervision, and people are called to enhance food safety awareness.
