Epidemiology of a dengue fever epidemic in Guigang City and assessment of prevention effect
Objective To summarize the epidemiological characteristics of dengue fever epidemic in Guigang City in 2019 and the assessment of the emergency response effect,provide technical support for the effective prevention of dengue fever in the future.Methods The data related to a dengue fever epidemic in Guiping City,Guigang in 2019,was collected and the data about weather,travel and outgoing mobile personnel,local residents dengue IgG monitoring and PCR for dengue virus in Aedes aegypti,Aedes aegypti density,to determine the cause of the epidemic and formulate preventive measures,and to evaluate the effectiveness of this emergency response and disposal.Results This dengue epidemic happened in September 25 to November 11,2019,the first case was imported,a total of 136 cases were reported,including 32 imported cases and 104 local cases,with an incidence rate of 3.07/100,000 people.The number of infected people was mostly farmers and retirees.The spatial distribution of the epidemic showed a high degree of aggregation,with 130 cases in Xishan Town,Guiping City,accounted for 95.59%.Imported cases were imported from Guangdong Province(19 cases),Nanning City(11 cases)Vietnam(1 case)and Fangchenggang(1 case).Referring to Guigang's 2015-2019 data on temperature,precipitation and tourist arrivals,the substantial increase in the city's reception of domestic tourists may be the cause of this outbreak.The 120 local residents monitored were negative for dengue IgG,17 pools of Aedes aegypti dengue virus nucleic acid were negative,the Brett index of emergency monitoring in the outbreak area was 28,which decreased to 4.7 after the emergency abatement.The density of adult mosquitoes in the double-layered stacked-tent method was 0.5 person.h.Conclusion This dengue fever epidemic was caused by imported cases leading to local community outbreak,with Guangdong and Nanning were the main imported areas for imported cases.Mosquito density was effectively controlled after emergency disinfestation,no mosquitoe was found to be carrying dengue virus,and no previous infections was found in the local population.
