Objective To monitor the epidemic trend and variational characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 variant strains in Qinhuangdao city,as well as the composition of each subtype, and to provide evidence for formulating local prevention and control policies. Methods The pharyngeal swab samples of local COV1D-19 infected patients were collected from July to October 2023 in Qinhuangdao city,Hebei Province,5 cases per week,a total of 80 cases. The whole genome of SARS-CoV-2 was analyzed by second-generation sequencing technology. Results The whole genome sequence of 80 cases of local SARS-CoV-2 infection was analyzed by Pangolin typing. There were 52 EG.5.1.1 variants, accounted for 65%,13 HK.3 variants, accounted for 16%,5 EG.5.1 variants, accounted for 6%,4 XBB.1.16 variants, accounted for 5%.FY.3,FU.1,XBB.1.34,HK.1,GY.1,GY.6 mutant strains were also detected, accounted for 7.50%.Genomic variation analysis showed that compared with EG.5.1.1 variant,HK.3 variant had two amino acid flipping mutations,L455F and F456L,in the receptor binding domain(RBD).Conclusion The main epidemic strains in Qinhuangdao city from July to October 2023 were Omicron EG.5.1.1 and HK.3 variants, and amino acids F(phenylalanine)and L(leucine)were flipped in the spike protein of HK.3 variants.
