Wu Lien-Theh's efforts in the retake of health quarantine jurisdictions at seaports in China
After the Opium War,China has gradually become a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society.Foreign coun-tries exerted the health quarantine jurisdictions of seaports in China since then.The exertion of the health quaran-tine jurisdictions at seaports is the symbol of national sovereignty in international custom.The history origin of health quarantine at seaports,the background and hazards of the loss of the health quarantine jurisdictions at seaports,Wu Lien-Theh's efforts in the retake of health quarantine jurisdictions at seaports and the significances were listed in this paper.The enlightenments of retake of health quarantine jurisdictions for health quarantine in the New Era of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics were discussed.The suggestions include intensification of sovereign conscious-ness,improvement of the awareness of the public,perfection of standardization and institutionalization for health quar-antine,enhancement of the core capacity building of health quarantine at ports.
