Relationship between serum ferritin and IgA levels and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma
Objective To explore the relationship between serum ferritin and immunoglobulin A(IgA)levels and My-coplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma, and evaluate the predictive value of serum ferritin and IgA for Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 104 children with bronchial asthma admitted to the pediatric department of Rugao People's Hospital from 2019 to 2022.The children were divided into combined group(38 cases)and non combined group(66 cases)based on whether they were infected with Mycoplasma pneumonia.Serum ferritin and IgA levels were measured using electrochemiluminescence and immunoturbidimetry methods. The levels of inflamma-tion indexes in the two groups children were compared. The influencing factors of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma were analyzed, the predictive value of serum ferritin and IgA on Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma was evaluated by using the area under curve(AUC).Re-sults The serum ferritin of children in the combined group was higher than that in the non combined group(P<0.05),IgA was lower than that in the non combined group(P<0.05).The eosinophil ratio(EO),basophil ratio(BA),neutrophil ratio(NE)and white blood cell(WBC)count in the combined group were higher than those in the non combined group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that serum ferritin increased(OR=4.187,95%CI:1.431-12.250),IgA decreased(OR=3.770,95%CI:1.288-11.029),EO increased(OR=4.280,95%CI:1.463-12.523),BA increased(OR=4.973,95%CI:1.699-14.549),NE increased(OR=3.504,95%CI:1.198-10.253)and WBC increased(OR=3.842,95%CI:1.313-11.241)were risk factors of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma(P<0.05).ROC anal-ysis showed that the AUC of serum ferritin and IgA alone and jointly predicting Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma were 0.708,0.648 and 0.829,respectively.Conclusion Serum ferritin and IgA levels were closely related to Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection in children with bronchial asthma, and showed high predictive efficacy in assisting in predicting Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection.
