Health economics evaluation of tuberculosis prevention and treatment in Hotan,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Objective To assess the present situation and cost-effectiveness of tuberculosis prevention and control in Hotan under the"Centralized Hospitalization Model"for tuberculosis management.Methods The epidemic profile and core indicators before and after implementing the"Centralized Hospitalization Model"for tuberculosis manage-ment in Hotan between 2016 and 2020 were compared.The social effect,utility and benefit of tuberculosis preven-tion and treatment in the Hotan from 2018 to 2020 were analyzed by using health economics methods.Results Between 2018 and 2020,a total of 13.414 7 million yuan was invested in implementing the"Centralized Hospitaliza-tion Model"for tuberculosis management in Hotan.During this period,21 167 active pulmonary tuberculosis patients were identified,and 19 634 of them were successfully treated.61 554 people were prevented from getting infected,and 6 155 persons were avoided to become patients.The implementation of this model also saved 4.193 3 million yuan in medical costs for patients,with a social and economic benefit of 83 yuan for every 1 yuan invested.Con-clusion Following the implementation of the"Centralized Hospitalization Model"for tuberculosis management in Hotan,there had been a remarkable improvement in the cost-effectiveness of tuberculosis prevention and treatment.It was important to maintain sustainable investment in tuberculosis prevention and treatment to consolidate the existing re-sults of prevention and treatment.
