Hub layout and network characteristics are the important basis for the development of regional shipping industry.Based on the complex network theory, the top 20 African hub ports were analyzed by TOPSIS method and multiple flow analysis method, and it was found that the overall equilibrium of the African maritime network is weak, and the development of the maritime network in the region is unbalanced and insufficient, showing the phenomenon of dense in the west and sparse in the east, and the phenomenon of strong in the north and weak in the south.By comparing with the number of significant flows by major regional ports in the world,it was found that the number of significant flows bome by major ports in Africa is lower than that in some regions, which indicates that Africa's shipping industry has a weaker influence on a global scale.Based on this, the key areas for the future development of intraregional shipping networks have been proposed, providing reference for the implementation of maritime interconnectivity.
