To reveal the influence of bag elastic modulus on the engineering characteristics of geosynthetic sandbags,a finite element numerical model was established based on actual engineering. The stress and settlement changes of geosynthetic sandbags under three different bag elastic modulus were studied, and on-site tests and engineering applications were conducted. After numerical analysis,it was revealed that ordinary sandbag with low elastic modulus is damaged under the vertical load of 200 kPa,and the maximum tensile strength of high-strength sandbag with an elastic modulus of 1 000 MPa is only 27%of its tensile strength, while the settlement values of geosynthetic sandbags under three different elastic modulus of the bag body are not significantly different.Through field tests and engineering applications,it was demonstrated the high-strength sandbags with high elastic modulus of the bag body are practical, which can reduce the influence of tide on project construction, and greatly save the cost of manpower, materials and machinery. This technology is progressiveness and worth promoting, and the research results can provide theoretical guidance and technical support for the design and construction of geosynthetic sandbags.
