The 3D wave flume experiments and OpenFOAM numerical simulation study of a monopile mounted on reef flat impacted by solitary wave were presented in this paper. The reef model has a 1∶4 slope and the monopile with a diameter of 0.15 m is mounted on the reef flat.In the experiments, the incident solitary wave height is determined to be 30%of the water depth. The surface elevation along the fringing reef, velocity at a particular place and the wave impact load on the monopile are recorded. The RANS numerical simulation is carried out by using the realizable k-ε turbulence model, and it was verified with physical experimental data.Based on the experimental data and RANS simulation results, the hydrodynamic characteristics of solitary wave propagation on the reef flat and the solitary wave impacts on the monopile mounted on reef flat are studied, and the influence of the solitary wave impact on the monopile under various slopes and incident wave heights is discussed. The research results have certain engineering guidance significance for the site selection and protection of pile foundations.
