The hydraulic reclamation method is a commonly used construction technique in land reclamation projects. However,it is limited by uneven sediment separation.Based on the CNOOC Shell Huizhou Ethylene Phase Ⅲ Land Reclamation Project,a quantitative research on sediment sorting characteristics in small-scale hydraulic reclamation areas was conducted through four field surveys and sampling.Timely measures were also implemented to ensure uniformity in sediment sorting. The results show a positive correlation between the relative content of particle groups and the distance from the discharge port, while the deviation coefficient, median particle size, and uniformity coefficient exhibit negative correlations with the same distance. In the small-scale hydraulic reclamation area, the sorting coefficient follows a monotonically increasing power function along the distance, whereas the deviation coefficient initially increases, then decreases, ultimately stabilizing.Measures such as increasing the hydraulic reclamation flow rate and agitating the surface soil effectively reduced the correlation of various sediment sorting characteristics with the distance from the discharge port to approximately 0.3,which indicates that the uniformity guarantee measures are effective. The results can provide valuable guidance for ensuring sediment sorting uniformity in similar small-scale hydraulic reclamation projects.
