Design theory and method of intelligent equipment for hardness testing of steel balls in ball mills
The steel ball in the ball mill is the main grinding material used in ball mill equipment and is widely used in mines, power plants, cement plants, and other industries. The main types of steel balls include high chromium steel balls, high chromium steel forgings, low chromium steel balls, and low chromium steel forgings. The hardness of steel balls is the key factor reflecting their quality, and it is required to measure the surface hardness, core hardness, hardness at 1/2 position, and hardness at 3/4 position of the steel balls. For many years, the main method used by countries around the world to test the hardness of steel balls has been sampling, where the steel balls are sawn open and placed on a Rockwell hardness tester or a Brinell hardness tester for testing. This testing method is time-consuming,labor-intensive,destructive,and does not achieve complete inspection.Researchers and companies worldwide have been diligently exploring for many years in the hope of finding a comprehensive inspection method for steel balls, but an effective method has not been found. This paper, through practical application in real projects and nearly three years of research, has finally found the theory and method for comprehensive inspection of steel balls. The successful launch of this equipment will achieve a zero breakthrough in the global inspection of grinding machine steel balls, solving a major problem that has been unresolved for many years.
