Application of model builder in renewable energy planning and design platform
In this paper, varieties of detached geoprocessing tools are chained together building a spatial data analysis workflow based on ArcGIS Model Builder during the construction of wind resources planning and design platform. In the meantime, this automatic process is published as a rest service known as GP(geoprocessing)services and provided for front end. This procedure achieves the real-time clipping of raster data by the area optimized through the planning site selection of wind resources.Meanwhile, the web-based visualization of the clipping result is conducted. Moreover, statistics such as mean and maximum, relevant with various wind resource parameters(e.g.Weibull A,wind power density)are extracted at once among the study area. These data will be the input of iterative optimization for the site selection of wind turbines. This method illustrates the possibility to applying Model Builder, which is a visual programming language for building a editable, reusable and extensible geoprocessing workflow,in energy planning and design platform.
