Exploration of I-131 concentration monitoring in the air of nuclear medicine facilities and evaluation of internal radiation dose for staff
To preliminarily understand the concentration of I-131 in the air of nuclear medicine facilities,as well as the possible contamination of radioactive nuclides in the bodies of workers, and to evaluate the internal radiation dose of workers.A total of 56 I-131 operators from three large comprehensive hospitals and specialized hospitals in a certain region were selected as the survey subjects. By monitoring the concentration of I-131 in the air, calculating the activity concentration of I-131,and estimating the annual effective dose. There was a certain amount of I-131 in the air of nuclear medicine facilities in hospitals. It was determined that the staff needed to undergo internal radiation monitoring. 56 staff members in the nuclear medicine department who directly operate nuclides were found to have internal exposure risks.Monitoring the concentration of I-131 in the air of nuclear medicine facilities is very important, and the evaluation of the internal radiation dose of staff cannot be ignored. The corresponding monitoring period should be selected based on the workload, and a comprehensive evaluation of the internal radiation dose of nuclear medicine personnel should be conducted based on air sampling analysis.
