circRNA regulates osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells via ceRNA mechanism in osteonecrosis of the femoral head
Osteonecrosis of the femoral head(ONFH)is one of the common diseases in orthopedics. The disease has complex pathogenic factors and high disability rate, which can eventually lead to structural changes of the femoral head, collapse of the femoral head, and hip joint dysfunction. With the development of high-throughput sequencing technology, many studies have shown that circular RNA(cirRNA)can regulate the osteogenesis and differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)through competing endogenous RNA(ceRNA)mechanism, and affect the occurrence and development of ONFH.In addition, circRNA is expected to become an ONFH diagnostic biomarker and participates in ONFH precision medicine as a therapeutic target. In this review, circRNA regulates osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs through ceRNA mechanism, and we discuss the role of this process in ONFH,in order to provide a new idea for diagnosis and treatment of ONFH.
