The role of stress granules associated protein TDP-43 in osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis(OA)is an irreversible degenerative disease with high morbidity and disability.Considering the current situation of 360 million OA patients in the world and more than 100 million OA patients in China,it is an urgent problem to solve.Mechanical stress, oxidative stress and aging are all involved in the pathological process of OA.Previous studies could not fully explain this process by considering OA from a single perspective.Stress granules can form in the cytoplasm after cells are subjected to mechanical stress, oxidative stress or senescence, and regulate the function and state of cells. There are few studies on the regulation of OA progression by stress granules.However,TDP-43,one of the formation proteins of stress granules,is found to be closely related to degenerative diseases in the elderly and plays a key role in OA progression. This paper reviews the role and mechanism of TDP-43 protein in OA.
