Analysis of CT signs of calcification's regulation of the peri-sacroiliac joint ligaments
Objective To investigate the distribution pattern of calcification of the ligaments around the sacroiliac joint, aiming to provide basis for the study of the mechanism of spinal ligament ossification. Methods The CT imaging data of 1266 patients with abdominopelvic examination and lumbosacral examination containing sacroiliac joints on the imaging PACS system of Qingdao West Coast New Area People's Hospital in January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 702 males and 564 females, with an age range of 18 to 95 years. The patients were divided into 4 groups according to the location of sacroiliac joint ligament ossification:anterior, middle, posterior and superior-inferior;and into 7 age groups according to the 10-year interval. The χ2 test and Spearman's correlation analysis by SPSS 25.0 statistical software were applied to statistically analyse the prevalence of peri-sacroiliac ligament calcification and the correlation with patients'age and gender.t-test was used for comparison between groups. Results The prevalence of ligament calcification around the sacroiliac joint was statistically significant between different genders(P<0.05);female(82.45%)was higher than male(73.79%).There were also statistical differences in the volume of calcification between different genders(P<0.05);the prevalence of calcification of the posterior ligament of the sacroiliac joint varied statistically between different genders(P<0.05).There were statistical differences in the prevalence of the posterior ligament calcification of the sacroiliac joint in the age group of 40-59 years old between different genders(P<0.05).There was no gender difference in the prevalence of ligament calcification in other positions of the sacroiliac joint. Conclusions Calcification of the peripheral ligament of the sacroiliac joint is more likely to occur in women than in men in terms of probability and volume, with a high prevalence in the age group of 40-49 years in women and 70-79 years in men.The calcification is more likely to occur in the posterior ligament of the sacroiliac joint.
