Immune mechanisms of gut microbiota in osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis(OA)is one of the most common degenerative and progressive joint diseases, which is characterized by articular cartilage degeneration, subchondral bone remodeling, and synovial inflammation.Gut microbiota has been proposed as an additional organ regulating bone metabolism. In recent years, the pathogenic role of gut microbiota in OA has been widely recognized. The imbalance of gut microbiota can disrupt the host-gut microbial balance, trigger the host immune response and activate the"gut-joint axis",thereby aggravating OA.This review systematically summarizes the research on intestinal flora and affected immune cells in OA,as well as the regulation of intestinal barrier and intestinal flora,in order to provide new ways for clinical treatment.
