Advances on the local muscle characteristics and exercise rehabilitation strategies for patellofemoral pain syndrome
Patellofemoral pain syndrome(PFPS)is a common knee disorder characterized by pain around the knee joint, especially during the movement with increased load. The risk factors for the disorder mainly include neuromuscular factors and sociopsychological factors.Patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome may experience a series of changes in local muscle characteristics, including muscle strength, electromyographic, and morphology features.Clarifying local muscle characteristics can help carry out clinical rehabilitation practice and guide scientific research.Patellofemoral pain syndrome is mainly intervened through non-surgical methods, among which sport rehabilitation intervention is the most effective means. At present, knee sport rehabilitation, hip and knee combined sport rehabilitation, sport taping, and rehabilitation education are listed as rehabilitation strategies. In clinical practice,evidence-based medicine should be used as the basis to establish a patient-centered comprehensive plan for early recovery.
