Nearly a dozen commercial reservoirs have been discovered during forty years of exploration in Lufeng sag,Pearl River Mouth basin,most of which lie just within 15 km from its hydrocarbon generation center,while the drilling of faraway prospects are mostly ended in failure due to the complicated control factors of long-distance petroleum accumulation.The lateral migration distance of LF12-A oilfield from its source kitchen LF15 subsag is as long as 28 km,which is not only the farthermost but also a fully charged(primary pay zone)commercial reservoir in Lufeng sag up to date.Comprehensive analysis of structure,sedimentation and petroleum accumulation as well as thoroughly study of petroleum migration and accumulation model of LF12-A oilfield show that the coupling of the three factors,which are"oil-source faults-structural ridges-top seals"along migration pathway ensures the long-distance petroleum migration and accumulation.Among them,active oil-source faults during the reservoir accumulation period is the key to vertical migration,ancient uplifts and structural ridges are the favourable petroleum migration and accumulation directions,and stably distributed top seals ensure the long-distance petroleum accumulation.The discovery of LF12-A oilfield highly expands the exploration boundary of Lufeng sag,and the study of its long-distance petroleum migration and accumulation has certain reference significance in the practice of exploring similar continental basins.
