Development process, key technologies and research directions of China's offshore low-permeability oil and gas fields
China's offshore low-permeability oil and gas resources are abundant and widely distributed, however, due to the special offshore operating environment, technical challenges, and economical constraints of the ocean, economically effective exploitation faces significant difficulties. Therefore, overcoming these technological bottlenecks and promoting large-scale development are of great significance. After years of practice, learning from onshore oilfields development experience,a unique path for effectively developing offshore low-permeability reserves has been formed, focusing on high productivity from few wells and emphasizing"4 matches"to address the challenges.Three development strategies have been proposed, including fracturing for production, energy supplementation, cost reduction and efficiency enhancement.Five key technical contents have been identified, namely comprehensive reservoir evaluation, effective energy supplementation,geology-engineering integration, fracturing technology tools, and economic evaluation. These efforts have successfully overcome the development bottleneck of low-permeability reservoirs above 20 mD,and gradually extended to effectively develop reservoirs with permeability as low as 5 mD,significantly promoting the development of offshore low-permeability oilfields. In the future, key technologies in deep and ultra deep oil and gas fields will be further explored,large-scale fracturing operation technology and equipment will be taken into research, and a joint project of offshore"CO2 flooding and storage"in low-permeability reservoir will be established.
