Research progress on water control completion technology for horizontal wells in bottom water reservoirs in the eastern South China Sea
Bottom water reservoirs are widely distributed in the eastern part of the South China Sea,and horizontal wells can markedly diminish the rate of bottom water coning in bottom water reservoirs. However, due to the long distance of the horizontal section, reservoir heterogeneity, and the heel-toe effect of horizontal wells,point-like water breakthrough leads to a substantial increase in the water content rate of the wells. This has led to a reduction in the production efficiency of bottom water reservoirs. To address this problem,large-scale field application of water control completion technology for horizontal wells in bottom water reservoirs has been carried out in the eastern part of the South China Sea.Water control tool includes ICD,AICD and C-AICD have been employed.Additionally, water control particle filling and intelligent segmented diversion have been utilized as water control processes, which have achieved remarkable results. This paper focuses on the research progress of water control completion technology for horizontal wells in bottom water reservoirs in the eastern part of the South China Sea.Firstly, the water control principles and technical characteristics of different water control methods,as well as the mathematical models of characteristic curves of different water control completion tools, are analyzed and displayed.Secondly, the application scales of different production prediction technologies and the application effects of the characteristics of different water control completion technology methods are summarized and analyzed. Finally, the challenges and and development trend of water control completion for horizontal wells in bottom water reservoirs are proposed. This paper can provide reference for the further development of water control completion for horizontal wells in bottom water reservoirs in the eastern South China Sea.
