Based on product and patent data analysis on the development status of the marine traditional Chinese medicine industry
Objective To understand the development status of the marine traditional Chinese medicine industry in China by analyzing the patent data of marine traditional Chinese medicine products and marine traditional Chinese medicine,to provide a reference for promoting the rational development and utilization of marine traditional Chinese medicine resources and promoting the healthy development of marine biomedicine industry.Methods The data on marine traditional Chinese medicine pieces were obtained through the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China,the National Medical Insurance Information Business Coding Standard Database,and the Chinese Marine Materia Medica,and the data on marine traditional Chinese medicine products were obtained through the website information of the State Medical Products Administration.Patent data information on marine traditional Chinese medicines was obtained by searching the patent database on the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China website.Results 18 varieties of marine Chinese medicine pieces and 127 types of marine Chinese medicine products were retrieved,involving 556 products from different manufacturers,most of which were oyster compound products.A total of 1 205 patents were searched,including 201 valid patents,comprising 199 invention authorized patents and 2 utility model patents.From 2010 to 2015,the number of patent applications increased year by year,and after 2015,there was a downward trend in the number of patent applications.Marine traditional Chinese medicine-related patents and products are mainly distributed in Shandong,Guangdong,Zhejiang,and other coastal provinces.Conclusion At present,the development of the marine traditional Chinese medicine industry faces problems such as single products,low added value,low patent revenue value,insufficient innovation ability and technological content.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the close cooperation between higher education institutions,pharmaceutical enterprises,and research institutions,utilize modern science and technology to deeply develop marine traditional Chinese medicine and compound formulas,research and develop modern marine traditional Chinese medicine products with high technological content,definite therapeutic effects,and clear material foundations,build a complete marine traditional Chinese medicine industry chain,and achieve innovative breakthroughs in the marine traditional Chinese medicine industry.
